Scattered Storms This Weekend

Staying humid this weekend with near normal temperatures.  A ridge of high pressure over the plains will relax and drift westward this weekend allowing a trough to move west along the Louisiana Gulf coast.  That trough, or tropical wave will bring widespread rain and thunderstorms for the offshore waters this weekend and a better chance for scattered rain and storms inland.

This tropical wave is being watched by the National Hurricane Center, but only puts a 10% chance for development over the weekend.  The wave is very close to land, and is very disorganized.  It should generally be a rain maker.  The system will continue to drift slowly westward toward the Texas Gulf coast early next week and dissipate.  Chances for rain will be highest over southeast Louisiana today.  Acadiana will have a better chance for Saturday and Texas by Sunday.  Rainfall totals between now and Sunday will range from a quarter of an inch over the far northern areas up to three inches along the coast.
