An upper level low over Texas will continue to move westward while a ridge of high pressure squeezes in from the east. The combination will push moisture northward over the Gulf of Mexico straight into the northern Gulf coast today and perhaps tomorrow.
The airmass remains moist and unstable, so just a little bit of daytime heating should get the rain and storms going. The showers and storms will drift slowly, so some heavy downpours and hefty rainfall totals will be possible over isolated areas.
High pressure will continue to move westward by the mid week reaching Acadiana, so the chances for rain will go down over the course of the week.
