Sand bags Available Around Acadiana

Due to forecast of heavy downpours for the early part of the weekend, parishes around the Acadiana area will make sandbags available to their residents.

Acadia Parish
The City of Crowley is issuing sandbags until 3 p.m. The sand bags will be available at Crowley Public Works located at 405 Jack Mitchell Road to town residents until 3p.m. Friday.

Residents of Crowley must present a valid drivers license. A limit of six bags will be allowed per license holder. For more information, please call 337-783-0824.

Iberia Parish
President Errol Romero announced that sand bags will be available beginning at 3:00 p.m. today at the following locations:

• B.O.M Fire Station
• Grand Marais Fire Station
• Coteau Fire Station
• Lydia Fire Station
• Rynella Fire Station
• Delcambre Fire Station
• Loreauville Park

Shovels will not be provided and residents should be prepared to fill their own sandbags.

Lafayette Parish
Lafayette Consolidated Government announced today that sand has been made available at two locations in the parish.

The two locations are self-serve. LCG will have sand and sand bags available to the public, but members of the public will need to bring their own shovel and expect to bag the sand themselves. Residents are asked to take no more than 20 bags per household if possible. The sand and bags will be located in an area that will be accessible to the public at any time.

Locations of the sand are:
· NEAR COMPOST FACILITY - 400 North Dugas Road, Lafayette, LA. N. University Ave west onto Dugas Road - 1st right on Compost Facility Driveway.

· SOUTH DISTRICT- 1017 Fortune Road, Youngsville, Verot School Rd. to Fortune Rd. go past the 4-way stop sign at Bonin Rd., location on the left past the roundabout

Vermilion Parish
The City of Maurice is making sandbags available to residents who bring their own shovel.

The self-serve facility is adjacent to City Hall at 115 Corinne Street and will be open to the public all weekend, beginning Friday, August 29, 2014.
