Rescue worker turned away in Vermilion Parish

Vermilion Parish Animal Shelter update: A rescue agency that operates out of Vermilion Parish says Animal Control is halting all rescues at this time. A rescue worker was turned away when they arrived this morning to pick up a dog. They were told all rescue agencies would be denied access until an agreement can be made with the police jury about protocol.

You'll recall, the controversy started when three dogs were killed in Vermilion Parish, after arrangements were made by a rescue agency to pick them up.  The rescue group said they told workers they'd be there at 12:00 pm, but Animal Control said they were supposed to arrive by 8:00 a.m. The dogs were euthanzied before they arrived.
