Crowley Police have arrested a Crowley man for burglary of a local business. The arrest stems from a March 28th burglary of a business in the South Parkerson area of Crowley. During the burglary the suspect stole copper wire from the business once he gained entry.
Officers were able to recover the copper wire before the suspect was able sell it.
Police arrested Ernel Gobert, 40 of Crowley. He was charged with one count of simple burglary and has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail. Gobert is no stranger to law enforcement. Gobert has been arrested on numerous occasions for Burglary, Theft, Unauthorized Entry, as well as other crimes.
“We are working with the District Attorney’s Office through our Community Relations Office to see if Gobert qualifies as a habitual offender. Either way, we are requesting that the District Attorney’s Office prosecute Gobert to the fullest and if he qualifies as a habitual offender according to law, that he be prosecuted as one,” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.
If Gobert qualifies as a habitual offender, enhanced penalties can apply if he is convicted of the crime.
