Rene Rost Elementary closed by water main burst

A burst water main caused the Vermilion Parish School Board to cancel classes today at Rene Rost Elementary.

According to Superintendent Jerome Puyau, a water line connected to an air condition unit in the school's cafeteria burst around 6:00 this morning. Puyau says there was no flooding in the building, as the water escaped through drains in the cafeteria floor.

Puyau says that janitors were on campus at the time of the burst and have been working to clean the cafeteria and repair the main. He adds that the repairs are almost completed and that students will be allowed to return to class tomorrow morning.
