ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Rapides Parish School Board members continue to track money owed to the district by students and employees who have charged for meals.
At Tuesday's meeting, The Town Talk reports Erma Davis, head of the district's Food and Nutrition Services, told board members that the district is owed over $59,000 from student charges and just over $9,000 from employee charges.
Davis said a major problem is getting parents or guardians to return forms for free or reduced meals at the beginning of the year. Until a child is approved for free or reduced meals, the child may have to pay for meals.
Board members spoke about what could be done to get better participation on returning forms at the beginning of the year, but took no official action.
