After a number of days with afternoon storms, the rain chances will drop as a ridge of high pressure settles in over Acadiana this week. Officially at the Lafayette Regional Airport we've had rain six out of the last seven days. New Iberia's Acadiana Regional recorded rain a perfect seven out of seven. These showers and storms have held the afternoon temperatures to around 90 for the most part.
Over the next few days a ridge of high pressure will push over the region suppressing the shower activity. Less rain means more sunshine, and more sunshine means more heat. Temperatures today should hover around 92 with a heat index near 100. By the end of the week, temperatures could be in the upper 90s. Expect a high of 97 Thursday with a heat index of 105. Afternoon storms should return again by the end of the weekend and normal temps will return as well.
