Crossfit is a competitive workout growing in popularity by the day. Here in Acadiana, Ragin' Crossfit is excelling on the competitive side more than any other. They are heading to San Antonio, Texas after qualifying for the Crossfit Regional Games.
"It's getting harder and harder. The competition is getting more fierce out there," Ragin' Crossfit owner and team member Jeremy Hohle said.
Ragin' Crossfit in Lafayette will field a six person team in this weekends regional competition.
"It's growing so quick that I believe next year, it's going to be even harder to make it," Hohle said.
Crossfit coach, Ashley Doubleday, will be competing in her first regional. It's a moment she never thought she'd actually experience when she started crossfit a few years ago.
"It's an amazing feeling. The best part is I have five other people standing next to me. We've trained together. We've all worked our butts off in here to make ourselves proud and to make our gym proud," Doubleday said.
Trent Colette also coaches at the gym. He says his competitive nature pushed him to take Crossfit to the next level.
"There's a lot of big names that we look up to as competitors that we're going to be competing along side with. It's going to be awesome, man but it's going to be shell shocked for sure," Trent Collette said.
Hohle say, out of 350 gyms across Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, only the top 30 are selected. Ragin' Crossfit is one of five in Louisiana and the only one in Acadiana to make the cut.
"It's been two months of really hard training. At least three to four days a week doing two-a-days and it's all leading up to this. It feels good man we're pretty pumped." Hohle said.
Ragin' Cross fit competes Friday through Sunday each morning from 8 a.m. until noon. You can watch the games live and see the Ragin' Crossfit team at this link and clicking on the "South Central Region" tab.
