Qualifying for Federal Elections Begins

The Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office is holding qualifying for the Fall election cycle on July 7-8, 2010, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and July 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Qualifying will take place at the Secretary of State’s executive offices, located at 8585 Archives Ave. off Essen Lane in Baton Rouge. The offices are in the XII United Plaza building directly behind the Louisiana State Archives.






            Candidates for the following offices will qualify with the Secretary of State: Lieutenant Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative, Supreme Court Associate Justice, Court of Appeal judge and Public Service Commission. Candidates for all other offices will qualify with their local clerk of court.






            All candidates must pay qualifying fees with a certified or cashier’s check or money order issued by a state or national bank or credit union, a U.S. Postal money order or cash. Neither uncertified personal checks nor campaign checks will be accepted. Candidates can for more information, including the Notice of Candidacy. Names of qualified candidates will be listed on the website in real time.
