Police seeking information in shooting death

The Lake Charles Police  Department is seeking the public's assistance with information on a shooting that killed a 32-year-old Lake Charles resident.

According to a news release, on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 11:27 pm, Officers with the Lake Charles Police Department responded to several calls in reference to gunshots being fired in the 600 block of Bank Street.

Upon arrival officers observed a man down on the sidewalk bleeding from his gun shot wound. The victim, later identified as Damion Derrelle Jackson was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital by Acadian Ambulance Service where he died as a result of his injuries.

Jackson, originally from Fontana, California, moved to Lake Charles in 2011. The investigation is on-going and additional details will be released as they developed.
