Police seek information about Opelousas armed robbery

Opelousas Police are asking for assistance in locating an alleged armed robber who fled on foot after robbing a convenience store Saturday on Vine St. in Opelousas.

At 10:50 p.m., Opelousas Police Department (OPD) responded to a call on May 3 of an armed black male subject entering the store, about five minutes earlier, wearing a black hoodie, a black bandana, and dark glasses.

Victims stated that the suspect fired one shot from a black hand gun toward one of the beverage coolers and then ordered everyone to get down on the floor. Victims stated that the subject escaped with approximately $700 in cash after he ordered them to put all of the money from the register into a bag.

The suspect is further described as a black male with a light complexion, approximately six feet tall, with a slender build.  Anyone with any information about this robbery or the identity of the suspect, please contact OPD at 337-948-2500.
