A 26-year-old Lafayette man is behind bars after using a cell phone police say he stole from a cab driver.
Wednesday night, Alfred Anderson was stopped by an officer with the Lafayette City Marshals Office. During the stop Anderson was found to have an active warrant for armed robbery and 1.8 grams of alleged heroin worth $720. Anderson was arrested and booked into Lafayette Parish jail.
On May 19, 2014, Anderson and an unidentified woman approached a cab driver cleaning his cab, according to police. Anderson allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim demanding his money, phone and cab fare. The victim complied and gave Anderson and the woman $300 in cash and his cell phone.
On June 5, 2014, the victim told police that his new cell phone was set up and he was receiving pictures and new contacts from his old phone. Police say one of the phone numbers belonged to Anderson. A photo line up containing Anderson's photo was shown to the victim that identified Anderson as the robbery suspect.
