JENNINGS, La. (AP) - Rural voters in Jefferson Davis Parish will be asked Oct. 19 to consider a number of issues to help support roads, fire protection and drainage districts.
The American Press reports the police jury agreed Wednesday to place 10 tax propositions on the ballot, including both renewals and continuations for maintenance and operation.
A new 10-mill property tax is being sought for Fire Protection District 5 in the Fenton area. It would generate $220,330 a year for operation and maintenance.
The measures, all for 10-year durations, are covered by the state's homestead exemption.
Early voting will be Oct. 5-12 at the Jefferson Davis Parish Registrar of Voters Office.
