Plan Lafayette week is underway! It's a comprehensive plan through LCG to improve the parish.
LCG and The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce have come together to host a series of forums to educate Lafayette residents about their "big ideas".
"It includes smarter decisions in government, includes our built space in terms of roads and green space it includes better using of natural resources and includes revitalization neighborhoods," said Jason El Koubi Lafayette Chamber of Commerce CEO.
There are 400 initiatives in Plan Lafayette, revitalizing neighborhoods is the at the top of the agenda today. Officials hope to create safe and healthy environments for all parish residents.
"Instead of looking at the cost of things in order to determine whether we make those investments, we should at the same time be looking at what our expected return on that investment is and that way we do a better job of delivery services without raising taxes," said Nathan Norris Downtown Development Authority CEO.
Officials say their ultimate goal is to connect the community and hopefully get feedback on the plan.
"Its an opportunity to not only understand the planning that has been done but to become part of the process, to provide input and to become champions for what its going to take to get this different initiative implanted," said El Koubi.
Initiatives from Plan Lafayette will be presented today at the LITE Center from 5-8 p.m. If you want to get involved, attend events or if you just have questions, you can go to planlafayette.org.
