Plan could distribute more money for storm repairs

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The state hopes to have a $62 million plan to offer additional funds to some Road Home participants who have not completed their rebuilding efforts.
The program is aimed at parishes with the highest amount of citizens who haven't been able to complete home repairs following hurricanes Katrina and Rita because they ran out of money. The state says those parishes are Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines and Cameron.
Public comment is being taken. After that, the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development will decide the plan's fate.
The state estimates that the money will help about 2,100
homeowners. The money comes from federal funds allocated to the
state after the 2005 storms.
