Pine Prairie man charged with aggravated arson, DWI

A Pine Prairie man is charged with aggravated arson after he allegedly tried to set a trailer on fire.

The incident took place September 12 around 7 P. M. in the 1800 block of Beech Street.

Pine Prairie police say a neighbor saw Shannon Daigle pouring gasoline on the front steps and in the yard of the mobile home before igniting it. Daigle allegedly then drove away from the scene.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze before the home suffered any structural damage.

Investigators say they caught Daigle the next day while driving drunk. Daigle's child was in the car with him at the time.

Daigle faces a number of other charges, including DWI with a juvenile under age age of 12, domestic abuse battery, reckless operation, and criminal damage to property. He remains in the Evangeline Parish Jail on $165,000 bond.
