The friends of the Lafayette Parish Animal Shelter stopped by to introduce Acadiana to Zeke a 7 year old Chiuaua looking for a home. They also gave us great tips to assist with dog barking control.

Tips on Barking Control:

NEW: PetZoom Sonic Trainer. Several rescue people say this works. Up to 20 ft away. Again, different no-bark tools work on different dogs. About $15-$20.

Outdoor Bark Control; fake birdhouse, $50-$60

No-bark collar training. Citronella spray is best but expensive.

Petsafe Indoor Bark Control, $35. (Different no-bark tools work on different dogs)

"COMFORT ZONE DIFFUSER COLLAR WITH DAP FOR DOGS" designed to help with thunderstorms or fireworks, being alone, new pet, moving, anxiety barking or chewing. Could be $30 to $50.

Can be found at stores or online. Call: 337-291-5644

Lafayette Parish Animal Shelter will host a Bunny Blast on Friday, March 22, 2013. There will be pictures with the Easter Bunny and treats!

LACC has many wonderful animals available for adoption. They receive a physical exam, deworming, and core vaccinations (FVRCP for cats, DAPP and Bordatella for dogs). PLUS a Rabies vaccination if they are over 12 weeks old (for cats and dogs less than 12 weeks old, a $10 Rabies voucher will be issued, to be used when they are old enough to receive the vaccine). Before leaving the shelter, each animal is microchipped and registered to the new owner (or the rescue group who pulls them). Meet the animals at the shelter from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, Monday through Friday. For more information on adopting, email:
