Owner of The Pig Stand Cleared In Child Sex Case

They were accused of having sex with children.

8 people implicated and investigated by State Police and child protective services.

Today one of the accused broke his silence-- now cleared by a grand jury-- KATC's Mike Magnoli has more with Barry Giglio.

The allegations were shocking, and last time we tried to speak to Mr. Giglio, he would only talk to us through a closed door. Now the St. Landry District Attorney says, it's over.

The owner of the Pig Stand and his wife were among those accused of forcing three girls to have sex with 8 adults. But now everyone in the group can breathe a sigh of relief- the charges have been dropped. A grand jury didn't find enough evidence for a trial.

Giglio told reporters and community supporters at a Friday Press Conference: "I want to clear my name and my family name and get back to work."

Giglio enlisted the help of a New Orleans attorney who asked a private investigator to review the case: The legal team had some sharp words for the investigators.

"They start off writing tickets, they could have done just a little more investigating and they would have seen there was no need for an arrest," said Daniel Denoux, a private investigator who did work on the case.

"They [the victims] were in state custody when the state police say this was supposed to have happened" said lawyer Ed Lopez.

St. Landry District Attorney Earl Taylor tells KATC grand jury proceedings are very secretive, so he was limited in his comments but he did say "We don't prosecute cases for convictions, we prosecute for justice."
