Nine partner organizations in Lafayette are coming together to advance their common vision on education in Lafayette.
The public is invited to the presentation on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Acadiana Center for the Arts on 101 W. Vermilion St. in Downtown Lafayette.
On May 15, nine partner organizations jointly released a report entitled "What We Heard - Lafayette Public Education Round Tables," which summarizes the major themes that emerged from a series of moderated discussions held earlier this year. Several of these same community organizations are currently working together to build on the findings of the round table discussions and create a set of community principles and priorities for Lafayette public schools. These partners intend to advance "a Common Vision for Our Future" that is grounded in strong community consensus and published research.
The event will feature a presentation entitled "a Common Vision for Our Future" in which a common vision for education will be presented to the public. The event will feature a number of community leaders who will elaborate on how they developed these principles and priorities, why a common vision is important for the future of our schools, and next steps in implementing our vision for public education.
