For many in Acadiana it is the best time of the year, Festival International is here and night one kicked off with some local favorites, Geno Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie as well as, Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band.
28 years and 28 festivals, a chance for Acadiana to celebrate its international heritage and on opening night, it was all about the music. While many enjoying festival are locals, many are from out of town, like Joseph Mier who made the trip from South Carolina.
"I love cajun music and I miss it, I really love coming to see my relatives and enjoy their company and the food here of course," said Mier.
What's a festival without some of the best food you can find.
"It's super exciting because we're the only food vendors open tonight and we get the bands, the weather is beautiful. Wednesday night for us is like our record breaking night," said Freetown Fries Owner Marla Kristicvich.
Festival International will continue through Sunday evening, for a full schedule of events click the Festival International icon here on the website or download the free Festival International app.
