The Opelousas Police Department has arrested one man and is seeking another man in reference to an early morning burglary that occurred on November 29, 2010 at the Palace Café in Opelousas. During the incident the assailants took several cartons of cigarettes and broke into several video poker machines. Investigators were able to follow several leads and just before 2 am officers with the Opelousas Police Department's Special Operations and Crime Suppression Teams were able to make an arrest. Officers arrested Shawn Robinson 37 of Opelousas for simple burglary and are looking for Reginald Riggs 38 of Gautier, MS.
"These are the definition of career criminals and this arrest is by far the result of a team effort by the two divisions. I will not tolerate these types of crimes in our city. This type of crime is not only an intrusion of the owner business it is also costly to the business owner who has to pay for the repairs and loss of business during that time. I take these offenses seriously it is an invasion of someone else's property. I want to commend the officers on such a timely arrest these two guys have been doing these types of crimes since I was an officer. I would like to thank the public for their support," says Opelousas Police Chief, Perry Gallow
