As a result of street level operations, Opelousas Marshal's Office arrested two subjects and seized a jarful of "green vegetable matter" as well as numerous "green ziploc baggies" inside a man's backpack. Deputies indicated that a presumptive field test was conducted, producing a positive result for marijuana.
The arrests of the two men resulted from interviews conducted near Rice and Colliard Streets by deputy marshals. While interviewing the first man on an existing warrant, deputies smelled marijuana on second man. The first man, Kelan Broussard, was arrested on the active warrant.
According to Marshal Paul Mouton, deputies arrested and charged the second man, John Jason, on charges of for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana and for the Possession of the Drug Paraphernalia. Both men were booked into the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.
