Opelousas man charged in attempted break-ins

A 42-year-old Opelousas man is behind bars after allegedly tried to break into three homes and a business in Broussard early this morning.

Broussard police say 42-year-old Shawn Marks was found by police on South Jefferson Street after fleeing the scene of one of the break-ins.

According to police, one of the victims told them that Marks tried forcing his way into his home, but Marks ran away after being confronted.

Marks is charged with three counts of attempted home invasion and one count of simple burglary. He is being held in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center without bond.
