NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Folklife Center at Northwestern State University has received a $10,000 National Endowment for the Arts Challenge America Fast-Track Grant.
The Louisiana Folklife Center is one of 150 not-for-profit organizations nationwide to receive the grant which will support the 2014 Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival.
The grant program offers $10,000 matching grants to support projects that extend the reach of the arts to people whose opportunities are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics or disability.
The 35th annual Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival will be held July 18-19 at Northwestern State's Prather Coliseum.
The theme is tied to the 300th anniversary of the founding of Natchitoches.
Performers will present a variety of styles of music ranging from country, Cajun, zydeco, gospel, French Creole, bluegrass and blues.
