NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans drivers getting their vehicles
inspected will not be getting a brake tag, even if they pass.
On Tuesday, vendors began issuing temporary brake tags to drivers whose vehicles pass inspection because there are none of the real things to slap on windshields.
According to WDSU-TV, Sid Bournes of the city's Department of Safety and Permits, said the city is not at fault. Bournes says the vendor that supplies the tags, had an issue getting their supplies to actually create them.
The temporary tags have an official seal of the city of New Orleans. Without that, the tag is no good.
The city says permanent tags should be shipped out this week, and vendors should receive them next week.
