The LSU Eunice softball team reached the 50-win mark with a doubleheader sweep over East Mississippi Community College Saturday afternoon, winning game one 6-0 before a 9-0 victory in the second game.

"50 wins is a big accomplishment. You have to appreciate every win you get, because we have worked hard for them. I was impressed with our pitching and defense. Our pitchers attacked the zone and our defense made every routine play," head coach Andy Lee said.
"When we do that, we are a good team. Teams aren't going to beat us when we pitch and play defense well."
Pitchers Destin Vicknair and Raven Cole each earned their 22nd wins of the season, as the duo continue to sit tied for the most victories in the country.
In the first game, Ashley Subervielle led the way with a 3-for-3 afternoon, including a double, while three players - Taylor Boulet, Dani Cruickshank and Covington - all finished with three hits and a double. Brooklynn Clark added a hit and two RBIs, while Cole added a pinch-hit RBI single as well.
Vickanir tossed seven innings and allowed just four hits and a walk while striking out seven batters in the win.
LSU Eunice got on the board with the help of an East Mississippi error in the second inning, when Cruickshank led off with a single before Subervielle reached on a bunt base hit. Cruickshank advanced to third on the play, while the throw went into left field and allowed the run to come home.
The same players added to the lead in the fourth when Cruickshank opened the inning with a leadoff double and scored moments later on Subervielle's RBI single.
Covington doubled in the fifth before scoring on Boulet's RBI double, while Clark added to the lead with an RBI single of her own. In the sixth, Subervielle led off with a double before scoring on Cole's pinch-hit RBI single, while Clark brought home the final run of the game with her RBI sacrifice fly later in the inning.
The second game saw Covington finish with two hits and six RBIs from a double and her grand slam, while Ginny Daggett and Emily Nolan (double) each added a hit and an RBI.
Cole tossed 3 2/3 innings in the five frame contest, allowing just one hit and walking three while striking out eight batters.
The hosts got on the board in the second inning with Nolan's pinch-hit, RBI double before Covington added to the lead moments later with her two-run double.
