Nice Thursday, Storm Risk Increases into Weekend

After a breezy and very pleasant Thursday, more changes are on tap for Acadiana as a return flow from the Gulf and shower/storm energy increases Friday into Saturday.

The front that has brought comfortably cool conditions to the area Wednesday will race northward early Friday as a warm front. While unclear at this time, there may be the risk of scattered showers and storms with this frontal boundary, but at this point rain chances shouldn't be too high Friday.

Saturday could be a different story as a storm system develops over Texas and advances eastward into Louisiana Saturday afternoon.  Storms will become more likely with possibly a slight risk of severe storms that could contain damaging winds, hail and possibly an isolated tornado.

Drier and cooler conditions will return to the area Sunday with much of next week looking mostly sunny and seasonably cool.

Long-range projections have been fairly persistent over the last several days indicating a potentially stormy end to March, or beginning to April, with a significant, strong storm system possible around April 1st give or take a day...we'll see.
