New registrar takes office in St. Bernard

CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - Connie Crumhorn has taken office as registrar of voters in St. Bernard Parish.

Nola.comThe Times-Picayune reports  she was sworn-in this past week by Clerk of Court Randy Nunez.

The Parish Council selected Crumhorn to replace Velma Bourg, who resigned earlier this year.

Crumhorn becomes the second member of her family to be named registrar. Her mother, Rita Crumhorn, served 18 years in the office until she stepped down in August 2007. Bourg succeeded Rita Crumhorn.
