NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Staffers for New Orleans City Council member Jackie Clarkson were back on the job Monday after a walkout that shut Clarkson's office down on Friday.
Clarkson had acknowledged Friday that her staffers were unhappy with her following last Thursday's regular council meeting. There had seen some heated exchanges between Clarkson and staffers during the meeting.
Clarkson told reporters she admits she is "not easy to work for" and that she demands a lot from her staff.
"At this time, I can confirm that all staffers are back and on duty today," Clarkson's media director, Susan Baxter VanWingen, said in an email.
No information was released on whether any kind of agreement or compromise was involved in the workers' return.
Clarkson, who currently serves as council president, is one of two "at-large" council members who are elected city-wide. She was first elected to the council in 1990 and also served in the state House of Representatives from 1994-2002. Her current term ends in May. She is barred by term limits from seeking the at-large post again and she is not expected to seek public office again.
"May 2014, I'm history. I have several big things on my agenda still to accomplish, and so I'm going to push everybody hard," Clarkson told WWL TV last week.
