A New Iberia man was arrested today after deputies say he cut another man during a fight.
According to reports, Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to 1700 block of New Horizon Street in Iberia Parish at 8:41 Wednesday morning in reference to a stabbing.
Deputies say they learned that a male victim, age 47, had been cut during an altercation. Deputies say the victim stated the suspect, who brandished a knife, confronted him and stabbed him on the head.
Deputies say the suspect was later identified as Lee Fowler, 28, of New Iberia.
Deputies say they located Fowler shortly after he had fled into a nearby field.
Deputies said Fowler was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery. Deputies say Fowler also had an outstanding warrant for monetary instrument abuse.
Fowler was then booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.
Deputies said the victim only received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
