It's a feeling you never want to experience; knowing you can't put gift under the tree for your family. Marian Bienvenu of New Iberia was once one of these mothers.
"There was a Christmas where I couldn't do it for me kids, I could barely feed them. My mother and my best friend and my sister stepped up and they made sure I had toys for Christmas," said Bienvenu.
When her finances turned around she knew she had to pass on the good deed.
"It started three years ago with one family, last year we had seven families and seventeen kids," said Bienvenu.
Today that number is even bigger. They're wrapping gifts for 24 families with over 50 kids receiving gifts. The community is helping make it happen.
"A friend of mine invited me to come wrap gifts and I gave to a needy family this year and it just humbled my heart," said volunteer Tessa Shanpagne of New Iberia.
The group will deliver the presents on December 21st with over 50 motorcyclists leading the way. They will travel over 60 miles around Iberia Parish with a trailer of gifts delivering smiles and a merry Christmas.
Bienvenu plans to make this group a non-profit organization in 2014. Anyone interested in helping their cause can join their Facebook event page or email Bienvenu at email@example.com
