NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A new board is now running the City of New Orleans' railroad system.
The first meeting of the all-new board for the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad met Tuesday evening. Mayor Mitch Landrieu called for a complete overhaul after reports of lavish spending by the railroad's former manager.
The Public Belt oversees miles of track used by major railroad companies. It operated in relative obscurity until the reports on questionable spending, many of which were outlined in a recent Legislative Auditor report.
