ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - A man accused of shooting his wife to death in May 2010 has had his murder trial postponed until April.
The Town Talk reports Joseph Anton Chehardy Jr. was indicted in July 2010 on a second-degree murder charge after 43-year-old Janeva Lasyone Chehardy was found shot twice at the couple's Tioga home on May 19, 2010.
The 53-year-old Chehardy is also charged with attempted second-degree murder after he allegedly tried to run over deputies while the couple's 2-year-old son was in Chehardy's truck.
Chehardy's attorney, public defender Joseph Kutch, asked state District Judge Thomas Yeager for a continuance in the trial.
Yeager set the trial for April 16.
