A very muggy start to your work week with mostly fair skies and temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s. A front will move in from the north later tonight bringing a better chance for showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon and overnight tonight.
Temperatures are expected to be in the low 90s with a heat index near 100 today. Your chance for getting cool with an afternoon storm will run about 30%. The front will continue to move southward entering the northern areas late this afternoon and cross the area by the early morning hours of Tuesday. Daytime heating will kick off a few storms, but more organized rain will roll through with the front.
Showers will linger into early Tuesday while the front rests just offshore, Slow clearing is expected Tuesday afternoon with lower dew points. Lower dew points mean lower humidity and more comfortable air. Wednesday looks good with mostly sunny skies.
Later in the week expect the rains and thunder to return as the front washes out allowing moist air to return.
Tropical weather could get active later this week with an impressive tropical wave over the eastern Atlantic.
