Moss Bluff man accused of cruelty to a juvenile

A Moss Bluff man is accused of punching and choking a 6-year-old child.

According to a news release, on July 3, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office detectives received a complaint regarding Gilbert J. McComb, Jr., 30, 168 Brown Road, Moss Bluff, physically abusing a 6-year-old family member.

McComb allegedly  punched the victim in the stomach and put his hands around his neck and choked him. When questioned by detectives, McComb confirmed the allegations, according to the release.

On July 22, McComb, who is currently incarcerated in the Calcasieu Correctional Center in connection with a June 8th burglary and theft of a home on Brown Road in Moss Bluff, was re-arrested and charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

Judge Ron Ware set his bond at $10,000.
