The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning Friday, September 20, 2013:
1. Lee'ann Nichole Jones, 27 years of age, Address-Darcy Lane Franklin, Louisiana was arrested on 09/20/2013 @ 3:28pm
Charges: Warrant- Lafayette Parish Sheriffs Office-Simple Battery
Cierra Lynn Smith, 23 years of age, Address-Darcy Lane Franklin, Louisiana was arrested on 09/20/2013 @ 3:41pm
Charges: Warrant-Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office-Theft under $50.00
Officers investigating a complaint near the corner of Shaw Drive and Levee Road in Morgan City came into contact with Leeann Jones and Cierra Smith. Both were discovered to be wanted on outstanding warrants from Lafayette Parish Authorities. They were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department and incarcerated pending transfer to Lafayette Parish.
2. Aalijah M. Charles, 30 years of age, Address-Columbus Street Houma, Louisiana was arrested on 09/20/2013 @ 7:48pm
Charges: Warrant: Simple Battery
Officers conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of Seventh Street and Ditch Avenue in Morgan City came into contact With Aalijah M. Charles who was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants through the Morgan City Police Department.
Charles was arrested, and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking . She was released after posting a cash bond.
3. Taylor King Jr., 37 years of age, Address-Boyce, Louisiana was arrested on 09/22/2013 @ 12:13am
Charges: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Heroin(3rd Offense); Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana (2nd Offense); Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License
Illuminating Devices Required; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Officers patrolling the area near Highway 182 and Justa Street observed a vehicle being driven with no headlights. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and came Into contact with the driver, Taylor King Jr.. Mr. King was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license. During the investigation, the officer located a syringe containing suspected heroin, a Controlled Dangerous Substance inside. Officers were also able to locate suspected Marijuana, another Schedule I CDS. The subject, King, who had previous convictions for possession of these controlled substances was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated.
4. Derrick J. Riley, 24 years of age, Address-Laurel Street Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 09/21/2013 @ 10:42pm
Charges: Simple Battery on a Police Officer; Resisting an Officer
Officers were dispatched to a Laurel Street address regarding a subject refusing to exit a complainant's vehicle. Officers arrived and located Derrick Riley still inside the vehicle. Officers ordered Riley to step from the vehicle. Riley refused, becoming belligerent towards offices. Riley eventually exited the vehicle and lunged towards an officer in an attempt to push the officer. The officer was able to subdue Riley. He continued to resist and had to be physically restrained. Derrick Riley was arrested, cuffed and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked, incarcerated and released after posting a cash bond.
5. James Carlton Herring Jr., 45 years of age, Address-Pacific Street New Orleans, Louisiana was arrested on 09/21/2013 @ 9:20pm
Charges: Appearing in Public Intoxicated; Warrant-Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office-DWI, Reckless Driving
Officers were dispatched to a parking lot located on Highway 182 in regards to a subject sleeping in the parking lot. Officers arrived and located a subject who appeared highly Intoxicated. The subject, James Herring Jr. could not stand and smelled highly of alcoholic beverage. He was also found to be wanted in Jefferson Parish for warrants for failure to appear. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he remains incarcerated.
6. Hugo Ramirez, 35 years of age, Address-Lake Palourde Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 09/20/2013 @ 11:14pm
Charge: Simple Battery
Officers were dispatched to a local lounge located on Highway 182 in regards to a fight. Officers arrived and discovered a subject who appeared to be injured.
Witness advised that another subject, identified as Hugo Ramirez struck the subject inside the lounge and continued to strike the subject on the ground. Ramirez, who was
located at the scene was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and remains incarcerated.
