Money Available to LA Aquaculture Producers for Last Year's High Feed Costs

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner
Mike Strain says $20 million in federal money is available to
Louisiana aquaculture producers who need help because of last
year's high feed costs.
Strain says it covers producers whose feed costs last year were
25 percent higher than the 2003-07 five-year average and made up at
least 25 percent of total input costs for the aquaculture
He says the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry
will administer the program. The money is from the U.S. Department
of Agriculture.
