A missing elderly Opelousas woman has been found dead in her car in Evangeline Parish.
Chief Perry Gallow of the Opelousas Police Department says 75-year-old Veronica Jackson left her home by herself last weekend. Her car and body were found on Monday.
According to Gallow, a witness account and surveillance video recorded at a recreational area confirms that Jackson, who suffered from dementia, was alone.
The Evangeline Parish Coroner's Office is conducting an autopsy on Jackson's body to determine a cause of death. Gallow says foul play is not suspected in Jackson's death.
