Mike Magnoli came to Louisiana in 2007 for a reporter job in Alexandria at KALB News Channel 5. In a move down I-49 to Acadiana, Mike joins KATC as a multimedia journalist. Before his first break on-air in Cenla, Mike worked as an overnight news writer at WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut. (By the way, CT is Mike's home state.) Going back even more, Mike set his sights on a career in television when he was in grade school, so at 18 years old the choice was obvious: Mike moved to The Big Apple to be among the networks and learn as much as he could from his favorite correspondents. He attended Marymount Manhattan College, in New York City's Upper East Side, where he took mostly night classes so he could intern during the day at ABC News, The Fox News Channel, and in local news at WABC. Mike graduated cum laude with a BA in Communications.
In his spare time, Mike likes relaxing, reading and writing: You'll find him poolside in a lounge chair with a novel or a notebook. He also likes going out to eat, riding jetskis (wherever and whenever he can) and tending to his cat named Zoo. Mike's girlfriend, a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, converted him to a Steelers fan two years ago and he hasn't missed a game on TV since. Another TV favorite is ABC News Nightline. Mike has been recognized by the Louisiana Associated Press for his investigative reporting and he received a first place AP award in the category for breaking news coverage.
