Midweek Rains

Warm and muggy across Acadiana this morning with temperatures in the low to mid 70s and humidity levels in the 85-95% range. Scattered storms are along the coast and offshore moving southward. An upper level low is spinning over the Florida panhandle and will slowly drift westward. A ridge of high pressure dominates most of western Texas through the high plains.

We're still under the influence of high pressure, which should keep the rain chances at 20% or less today with the best chances for showers and storms over the Atchafalaya Basin and coastal areas. As the upper level low east of us drifts in our direction, rain chances will increase for Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 90s with a heat index near 100.

Tropical Depression #2 is located over the central Atlantic and is drifting west. There's not much hope for any intensification as it moves toward the Windward Islands because of dry air and stronger wind shear.
