The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 11/20/13:
1. Charmaine L. Wiggins, 32 years of age, Address-Amelia, Louisiana was arrested on 11/20/2013 @ 12:11pm
Charge: Warrant: Distribution of a Schedule III CDS (Narco)
In a continuation of an investigation into the sale of illegal drugs from a Highway 182 motel, an arrest warrant was secured for Charmaine Wiggins for
Distribution of illegal narcotics. Taffeta Lynch, another subject in the investigation was arrested on 11/19/2013 after she was found to be in possession of several pills of a Schedule III CDS. During the investigation, it was learned that Charmaine Wiggins had distributed the substance for sale to Lynch. Wiggins was brought to the Morgan City Police Department where she was arrested on the outstanding warrant. She was booked and remains incarcerated.
2. Terrance L. Johnson, 30 years of age, Address-Terrebone St. Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 11/20/2013 @ 3:20pm
Charge: Disturbing the Peace; Resisting an Officer
Officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance at the corner of Everette St. and Fifth St. Officers arrived to observe several subjects gathered and involved in a disturbance. During the incident, Terrance Johnson was observed by officers charging at another in a threatening manner. The officer stepped in and attempted to restrain Johnson who then began to resist and break free from the officer. The officer produced a Taser and ordered the subject to lie on the ground. Johnson complied and was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
3. Jonathan K. Perry, 29 years of age, Address-Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 11/20/2013 @ 5:20pm
Charge: Stop Sign Violation, Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License; Warrant: No License Plate Illumination
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being driven by a subject, identified as Jonathan Perry almost cause an accident on Sixth St. in Morgan City. The officer stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, Perry for further investigation. Jonathan Perry was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license and also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for additional traffic violations. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
4. Wesley M. Foster, 41 years of age, Address-Haney Dr. New Orleans, La. was arrested on 11/20/2013 @ 10:41pm
Charge: Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Offense; Improper Lane Usage; Open Container inside a motor Vehicle
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Fourth and Brashear Avenue. The officer stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, Wesley Foster who the officer determined displayed signs of impairment. Foster failed the field sobriety test and was subsequently placed under arrest. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test results being ..148g%. Foster was booked and incarcerated.
5. Tara L. Loupe, 33 years of age, Address-Chester Bowles Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 11/21/2013 @ 4:07am
Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Synthetic Marijuana; Possession of Drug Paraphernala; Uniformed Controlled Dangerous Substance Law-within 1000 ft. of a School Zone; Illegal Use of CDS in presence of persons under the age of 17.
Detectives from the Morgan City Police Department conducted a search warrant at a residence located on Chester Bowles in Morgan City. The warrant was based on an investigation into narcotics complaints at that residence. Tara Loupe, was located inside the residence and found to be in possession of suspected Synthetic Marijuana and items of paraphernalia. She was also found to be in accompany of a person under the age of 17 years old at the resident. Due to the fact that the resident is in close proximity to a drug free school zone, she was charged accordingly. Loupe was arrested, and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and remains incarcerated. The investigation is continuing and additional charges may follow.
