Man gets prison for trafficking bogus credit cards

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A Louisiana man has been sentenced to prison on a guilty plea to producing and trafficking counterfeit credit cards in Waveland.

The Sun Herald reports Larry Don Norwood Jr. was sentenced to 16 months in prison and ordered to make restitution of $1,863.12. He also was given three years' probation with an order to perform 40 hours of community service in the first six months after his release from prison.

Norwood's co-defendant, Patrick Henry Thomas, also has pleaded guilty and is set for sentencing Jan. 27. Thomas is free on bond.

Both men are 24 and from the Baton Rouge area.

Waveland police arrested them in December 2012, when Walmart reported two men were using multiple credit cards to buy inexpensive items to get larger amounts of cash.
