COUSHATTA, La. (AP) - Investigators with the State Fire Marshal's Office are looking into the cause of a house fire that claimed the life of a 46 year old Coushatta man.
Red River Parish firefighters were dispatched to a home early Sunday morning.
Upon their arrival, a single story home was found engulfed in flames. One of the home's occupants, 40-year-old Vergina Williams Coleman, told firefighters she was able to escape through a window but her boyfriend had not escaped.
Once the fire was out, firefighters found the body of 46-year-old Rodney Barfield near a bedroom of the home.
Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen.
