A Lafayette man is behind bars after he allegedly led police on a chase and crashed his truck into the Habitat for Humanity office downtown.
The incident began around 1 a.m. in the 100 block of Taft Street.
According to police, the driver of the truck, 25-year-old Miles Guidry, fired a pistol into the air and sped away from that intersection. Police say an officer was near the intersection when Guidry fired the shot and attempted to pull him over.
The chase ended after Guidry crashed into the Habitat for Humanity building at the corner of Johnston and Stewart Street.
Guidry is charged with aggravated flight, illegal discharge of a firearm, and second-offense OWI.
