Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in NO killings

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans man accused of killing his estranged ex-girlfriend and her teenage son has been indicted with two counts of second-degree murder.
The Times-Picayune reports that 45-year-old Keith Tate was originally booked with first-degree murder for the deaths of 36-year-old Kywanda Butcher and her 13-year-old son Au'Sha. They discovered shot at close range in their home on October 10.
Tate was the one who said he discovered their bodies, calling police after they had been dead for at least a day.
It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer. Bond was set at $2 million.
