A mother's concern for her daughter's mood change led to the arrest of an Opelousas man on a simple rape charge.
According to Opelousas police, a mother brought her 15-year-old daughter to the Opelousas Police Department on May 20, saying that her daughter was not herself as of late and had been unusually quiet.
The girl informed police that she was raped several weeks prior at the suspect's grandfather's residence. The victim identified the suspect only by the nickname of "Gucci."
Police were able to gather enough evidence to corroborate the girl's statement as well as the true identity of the suspect. He was identified as 21-year-old Felton Bocard, 2300 block of Ledoux Circle in Opelousas. A warrant was then issued for his arrest for the charge of simple rape.
Bocard was located today and arrested without incident.
He is now in the Opelousas City Jail and will go before a magistrate Friday morning.
