A St. Mary Parish man is arrested on attempted second degree murder charges and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family, after a shooting Tuesday afternoon. Deputies say around 1:00 p.m., they responded to a shooting near the intersection of Polaris and Saturn Roads in Bayou Vista. Deputies also say a vehicle fled from the area, heading toward Teche Road. During the investigation, investigators say a deputy found a man hiding in a metal building near one of the ball fields at the Bayou Vista Community Center. The man, 23-year-old Cody Thibodeaux was detained. Deputies say they found the vehicle that fled the scene of the shooting on Teche Road near Belleview Street and found a 30-year-old male victim. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and later released. Investigators say Thibodeaux was arguing with a woman on Polaris Road when the domestic fight escalated. Deputies say Thibodeaux then fired at a man in the area, hitting him in the torso and elbow. Investigators say the man is known by Thibodeaux and the woman he was arguing with. Investigators say that's when Thibodeaux fled the area, but was later found by by a deputy. The victim was treated and released from the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
