An Abbeville Police detective was involved in a hit-and-run crash on State Street Monday afternoon.
According to the Abbeville Police Department's Facebook page, the detective was driving on State Street about 4:30 p.m. Monday when a gold Honda Accord traveling west on Martin Luther King Drive ran a stop sign and collided with an unmarked Abbeville Police unit and an Acadian Contractors work truck.
Police say the Accord fled the scene at a high rate of speed, while the detective and the Acadian Contractors' worker suffered minor bruises.
The gold Honda Accord was located seconds after the crash, according to police.
The driver, Michael Ballard was booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail on charges of unauthorized use of a movable, two counts of hit and run, driving while intoxicated, no driver's license, and running a stop sign.
