On July 13, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a single vehicle accident in Lake Charles.
The incident happened at the intersection of York Lane and W. Prien Lake Road. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a truck that appeared to have run off the road and into a ditch. When the deputy approached the truck, and spoke to the driver, Jeremy O. Dupont.
Deputies said Dupont had a strong odor of alcohol from him breath, his speech was slurred, and he was very unsteady on his feet. After Dupont performed poorly on the sobriety test, he was arrested and brought in to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. There he took a breath intoxilyzer test that revealed he was over the legal blood alcohol limit.
Dupont who was convicted of his third DWI charge in March 2009, is now charged with a 4th DWI and careless operation. Judge Sharon Wilson set his bond at $10,500. CPSO Deputy Christopher Scharp was the arresting deputy on this case.
